All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) was established in 1924 as an independent, non-political, non-governmental national religious institution in Sri Lanka and acts as the accepted authority concerning religious affairs of the community. Consisting Muslim Theologians in Sri Lanka the ACJU was incorporated by an Act of Parliament No. 51 of 2000, with a membership of over 3,000 Ulama.
The ACJU serves the community through 10 sub-committees that look into Shari’ah rulings (Fatwa), announcement of festivals and determination of the lunar months (Hilal), Education, Information, Publications, Propaganda, Islamic Banking, Social Services, Council for Cordination & Cooperation and most importantly Division for Halaal Certification which advises on one of the most important day-to-day concerns of practicing Muslims.
Operating through 23 districts and 85 divisional branches island wide, these sub-committees are in continuous dialogue with the Muslim community and establishments both locally and internationally. They continue to render an invaluable service to the community as Sri Lankans.
